Our Response to the Timms Review: Call For Evidence
Like many advice services across the country, Citizens Advice Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole have deep concerns about how Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is currently working for disabled people.
Our evidence shows a system that often fails to reflect the real, day-to-day impact of disability. The assessment process is frequently confusing, inconsistent, and too narrowly focused, meaning many people do not receive the support they need and are entitled to. This leads to distress, hardship, and, in too many cases, lengthy appeals just to secure the right outcome.
That’s why we’ve brought together our frontline evidence and local data to respond to the Timms Review of PIP. Our submission highlights where the system is falling short and sets out practical changes to make PIP fairer, clearer, and more reflective of people’s real lives.
