March 2026 Research & Campaigns Bulletin: What Has Household Support Fund Taught Us?
At Citizens Advice BCP, the hundreds of client stories shared with our team each month steer and shape the future of our service. As we reflect on the delivery of the Household Support Fund (HSF) Grants, we are evaluating the profound lessons learned from supporting over 28,000 local households over the past 5 years. Household Support Fund issued approximately £5.37 million in grants , serving as a critical lifeline for families with children, pensioners, and disabled individuals. Our data highlights a significant shift in living standards, with a growing number of working households trapped in negative budgets.
These insights suggest that effective crisis support must go beyond immediate emergency payments to include “whole person” interventions, such as income maximisation and coordinated multi-agency responses for those with complex vulnerabilities. Looking ahead, we remain committed to using these reflections to work with our partners in delivering better-targeted resilience support.
