What will you do?

  • Complete an introduction to Citizens Advice
  • Promote the local Citizens Advice service so that people understand what Citizens Advice does, how they can get advice, and how they could become a volunteer
  • Create, schedule, and manage engaging content for Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms, adhering to brand guidelines to raise the profile of Citizens Advice.
  • Assist in planning and delivering social media campaigns around key dates and national campaigns
  • Develop promotional materials, including leaflets, posters, website content, and newsletter articles, using existing resources or creating new content as needed.

What do you need to have?

You don’t need specific qualifications or skills, but you’ll need to:

  • Be friendly and approachable
  • Have a good knowledge of Facebook and Instagram (either personally or professionally)
  • Respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own
  • Have good IT skills and be familiar with social media platforms, content scheduling tools, or graphic design software
  • Be creative with an eye for visuals, tone and clear messaging
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection
  • Be willing to undertake training in your role

How much time do you need to give?

We can be flexible about the time spent and how often you volunteer so come and talk to us. However, we typically require a commitment of at least 6 hours per week.
