Domestic Abuse

Since both the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis, Citizens Advice BCP has seen a sharp increase in the number of people who have been impacted by domestic abuse. As a response to this, we have engaged with local partners to be able to deliver advice which can support those clients with issues during and after an abusive relationship.

As an advice provider, we recognise that domestic abuse sends ripple effects across someone’s life, whether that be needing find new accommodation, or securing an independent income, or even affecting someone’s right to stay within the UK. Finding a way to navigate these issues, alongside living with the effects of abuse can be complex and isolating, and this why we are here to support. We have a dedicated Domestic Abuse Caseworker, and we see this as an integral part of our advice work.

We work alongside partners who offer emotional support, wellbeing workshops, and courses around pattern changing. We aim to compliment this by utilising our expertise to advise and support with the socio-economic issues that come as of abuse.

We currently operate a targeted outreach for those who are currently experiencing or who have experienced domestic abuse at the Waterlily Café every Monday from 10am to 1pm.

If you would like our advice outside of this outreach, please do not hesitate to contact us using the Advice Form under the Get Advice tab on this website.

If you are currently experiencing abuse, and at threat of immediate harm/neglect please contact 999 for the emergency services.
