Why volunteer with us?

Everyone at some point has been impacted by an issue which needs specialist advice or support to resolve. Accessible support from a Citizens Advice volunteer can be life changing.

As a volunteer, you will have a chance to support members of your local community to access the information and advice they need to resolve their problems and find a way forward.  Volunteers are integral to our work and are hugely valued at Citizens Advice BCP.  You may bring vital lived experience, or years of knowledge and transferable skills to our organisation.

We recognise that this is a volunteer position like no other. In order for you to provide the advice and support to our communities, we will provide you with all the training required in a supportive, friendly, and welcoming environment.

You can read about the value of volunteering with us in this new national Citizens Advice report: Value of Volunteering in Citizens Advice

Who are we looking for?

There is no set formula for who makes a good volunteer, and we welcome volunteers from all walks of life, with differing backgrounds and past experiences. There are certain skills that will be helpful for each role, please see click the below link to find out what skills we are looking for.

Whilst we want to give everyone the opportunity to volunteer, we cannot provide volunteer opportunities to those who do not meet the below requirements:

  • You must have the right to volunteer in the United Kingdom.
  • You must not have been to see us as client within the last 6 months.

We do also offer placement opportunities for students based in the local conurbation, please see our Placement page for more information.

How to apply to be a volunteer?

Once you have decided which volunteer role is best for yourself, we would like to invite you to complete the below application.

Upon receiving and reviewing the application, we will invite you to meet us on one of our recruitment days. You will have the opportunity to learn more about service and what is required from the role.

It will also allow us to invite you for an interview on the day to get to know you a bit more and to see whether this is the right opportunity for you.
